These buildings almost universally have plaster walls. The waterfront, meanwhile, has seen rapid new development over the past decade, with glass-and-steel residential towers featuring drywall and concrete construction.

Plaster walls are the standard in Greenpoint’s pre-war rowhouses and apartment buildings. If you’re in the older part of the neighborhood — anywhere on the interior blocks east of Manhattan Avenue — plaster is almost certainly what’s inside your walls.
