Après Surf Diptych

Two matching canvases that had been leaning against the wall since move-in, which is where a lot of art in NYC apartments ends up. The goal was a clean pair above a curved sofa, spaced so they read as one piece.

We measured the two canvases as a single unit, centered that unit on the sofa rather than on the wall, and set the gap between them so it matched the visual weight of the frames. Both canvases went up on proper hardware rather than the sawtooth hangers they came with, which is why they sit flat and stay put. The finished pair is level with each other and with the top of the sofa line.

This is one of our most common jobs: art that is already in the apartment, just not on the wall yet.
