Salon-Style Gallery Wall

A full salon-style gallery wall above a striped sofa: about a dozen pieces in mixed frame sizes, styles and orientations, hung as one composition. The in-progress shot shows the layout going up from the ladder; the finished wall is the result.

Gallery walls succeed or fail on planning. We laid every piece out on the floor first, adjusted the arrangement until the spacing and balance worked, then transferred the layout to the wall piece by piece, checking the gaps between frames as we went. Each frame went on hardware sized for its weight, so the heavy pieces are as secure as the small ones.

The client kept every piece they wanted and nothing had to be left out to make the wall work.
