Six-Frame Grid

Six-Frame Grid

Before: blank wall marked with tape for a six-frame grid
Before
After: six black frames hung in a perfect grid
After

Six matching black frames in a two-by-three grid. A grid is the simplest gallery layout to describe and the hardest to get right, because every gap has to be identical in both directions and any drift compounds across the row.

The tape marks on the blank wall in the before photo are the layout: we mark the outer boundary and the frame centers before drilling anything, then hang from the center out so the grid stays square. The finished grid has even spacing across and down and sits centered on the wall.

Frame grids like this work well in hallways, bedrooms and above dressers, and they are quick once the layout is set.
